Make Your Home Office E-Green "Creating An Environmentally Friendly Home Office"
E-Green? I admit that this concept up. We have many other e-words, that something from someone, so why not?
Although the terminology might be on the quirky side, is the concept down. I'm talking about what we can to create an environmentally friendly office at home. An "electronically green" office is good for the planet, cheaper than a "brown" are healthier and in some cases.
Revisiting the paperless office
It is time to takeonce again to the idea of the paperless office. "Completely paperless is" an unattainable goal, but we can definitely reduce the amount of paper we go through and we can buy recycled paper for the occasions when we really need to have an expression.
We can avoid us by e-mail or IM or text messages as much as possible the use of paper for letters and envelopes. We can use our electronic document archive, with backups, to reduce the amount of paper we store in our databaseCabinets. If we need to print or fax, we can do double-sided print jobs with both sides of the paper. We may in the "draft" mode to print to save ink, and expand the margins to get more words per page, so with fewer pages.
When we fax, we can use a fax modem instead of a fax machine, whenever possible, it will remove the need to print a copy. We can work around the wrapper and to help the recipient save paper. We can write notes on slips of paper, used envelopes, junk mail and theBacks of the prints instead of notepads and sticky notes. If newspapers, magazines and books in electronic form is available, we can use this version instead of ordering the paper. We print out the parts we need, and read the rest of the computer.
We can view our brochures, leaflets, available on our website in PDF or HTML format. Then we can encourage people to use the electronic versions of such access, we reduce the number of copies required in paper form.
Recycle,Re-distribute and re -
We recycle wherever possible. We can buy recycled paper and recycling paper and cardboard products coming into our home office. We are looking back and select suppliers, packaging materials for reuse.
According to a website published by the Australian Government, the use of recycled paper saves trees. The website reported that all 100 tons of recycled paper will be printed to a double-sided saves two trees, more than a tonGreenhouse gas, and almost a cubic meter of landfill space, compared with 100 tonnes of paper, not recycled or printed double-sided
Although older copier and printer paper jams caused by the use of double-sided operations to guarantee effective performance of many models today. Some equipment suppliers to specify the brands of recycled paper, which they approved.
With the purchase of office equipment, we can insist that the devices can handle recycled papereffective and has a capacity for double-sided printing. We may contact us for fax machines, with plain paper instead of thermal paper. Thermal paper contains more chemicals and higher embodied energy than plain paper, recycled paper with office services can not accept. We can scan us for copiers, the paper with printing on both sides.
We can look for equipment with long life print drum and toner cartridges. These are cheaper in generaland more environmentally friendly than their counterparts of short duration. We can guarantee that the use of remanufactured or refilled toner or ink cartridges do not void warranties or decrease in reliability. We can be expanded by purchasing computers and other electronic equipment. If necessary, we can upgrade, but replaced. This saves money while reducing consumerism.
We recycle office equipment and computers, when we are ready to replace them. Many of the largerComputer and electronics companies are now offering recycling programs for their customers. You can also donate your old equipment to a charity or organization that older computer different materials, either for local use, or overseas. It is usually also some restrictions on the age of the equipment which they accept. For more information about recycling of electronic devices, see the Electronic Industries Alliance Web site.
We can rechargeableBatteries for phones, cameras and other devices wherever possible. The first battery costs may be higher, but since these batteries last longer, we save money in the long run, while a reduction of waste.
Be Energy Efficient
Before purchasing computers, monitors, copiers, printers, fax machines, scanners and multifunction equipment we can for the Energy Star logo, which confirms the view makes energy-efficient equipment standards. Then we havecan ensure that energy-efficient features are enabled. Some products are turned off by the manufacturer with these features.
We can not energy-efficient light bulbs. We can apply our civil government to determine where and how to dispose of or recycle energy-efficient light bulbs. Since they contain zinc, they should not end up in the landfill.
We can buy eco-friendly earth-friendly products, including cleaners, toners and office supplies.
We can turn offelectronic equipment, if it is not in use to reduce energy by 25 percent. If we put everything on a power bar, we just have to turn off a switch. We can turn off our computers at night, and save a surcharge of 50 percent.
We can save energy (and acquire more space on the desktop), by monitoring an LCD computer monitor and not as a standard cathode-ray tube.
We can go to the computer monitor in "sleep" or "standby" when not in use 10 minutes long. This reduces powerPeriphery, but maintains the memory, not that we lose our work. If we are using a laptop, you have the "sleep" function will extend the life of the battery, an additional bonus.
And no, clear, screen savers do a few myths to save energy. You use as much energy as a full screen of work and may require travel considerable computing power. It is better to put our screen saver to "none" or "blank screen." Today's monitors, you no longer need the "burn-out prevention function that monitors previouslyrequired.
The second myth is the belief that run at startup current surges consume more energy than leaving the equipment. Not true. Startup current surges of short duration and consume, at most a few seconds, average life energy. We are off to better equipment that is not used for a few minutes, or switch to a lower power setting.
Finally, we can offer more teleconferencing, video conferencing and net meetings were held face-to-face timetableMeetings. We will save resources, time and money by reducing business travel.
These suggestions may sound trivial, but in reality all that we do make a difference. For more information, Google "green office" or "Green Office". There is a wealth of information available.
